About Us

Welcome to our story

I’m Rebecca Elrod, and together with my husband J.R. and our daughters, we built Sunnybrook Logistics from the ground up — one truck, one load, and one relationship at a time.

Back in the 90’s and working as a hospital-based physical therapist assistant in Denver, I loved my geriatric population. Introducing myself with, “Hey there, I’m Rebecca,” many of them would comment my name reminded them of the 1903 novel (and 1938 film), “Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm.” The seeds were planted.

I met J.R. in 1992, an experienced, company truck driver with a love for the open road. We married later that year and in 1993, he convinced me to attend truck driving school where I earned my CDL and we ran team for a year. With fond memories of my hospital patients, I decided on the CB handle, “Sunnybrook,” while discovering firsthand the mix of grit and freedom that defines trucking life.

After taking maternity leave with our first child, I returned to my PTA job and J.R. kept on truckin’. Many of my patients still recalled the old book and movie with my namesake CB handle, and I would share stories of my adventures on the road. Even after returning to my medical career, I kept that CB handle close. It reminded me that optimism and hard work can share the same lane. The rest, as they say, is history.

In 2012, we started with a single truck and a big goal: to do things the right way, honestly, and with pride. We earned our own authority in 2019 and J.R. began running independently from our home in Mount Pleasant, Texas—hauling oversized freight across the Lower 48.

As our family and company grew, so did our vision. Our daughters grew up around dispatch boards, freight maps, and late-night broker calls. They know this business inside and out, and together we realized it was time to expand beyond hauling freight to managing it.

That’s how Sunnybrook Logistics was born.

Our network includes carriers big and small, but our heart—and our first calls—go to independent owner/operators and family-run fleets. When scale is needed, we bring in our larger partners—always aiming for the right match for every load, fair rates, and clear communication from start to finish, because at the end of the day, we’re not just moving loads.

We’re moving relationships, opportunities, and livelihoods—one shipment at a time.

Sunnybrook Logistics is proudly certified as both:

Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB)

Women’s Business Enterprise (WBENC).

These certifications reflect our ongoing commitment to integrity, inclusion, and opportunity for businesses of every size.

If you’re a small carrier or shipper who values fairness, straight talk, and relationships that last, we look forward to working with you.
